Dive Sites in the Protaras Area

Cyprus is a wonderfully diverse island with its different scenery on land, the same can be said for its underwater landscape. There are many different sites so no matter at what level your diving skills are, you can improve them in Cyprus.

The water is warm and the skies are blue, so come and give it a try. Below you will find a description of the main dive sites, the major attractions as it were, not to mention the beauty of the creatures that inhabit the waters.

Green Bay
Very easy entry and nice little bay. Ideal to begin your diving holidays. Nice, calm and crystal clear waters. In this spot you may see amphoras broken in little pieces. Max. Depth 15 meters. Ideal spot for divers who wish an easy dive after an inactive period. This is where we conduct the PADI Discover Scuba Diver course.

Decosta Bay
A very easy shore entry. A nice shallow dive 10 to 12 metres. Great site for feeding the fish, this also gives you a great photo opportunity. Statues and pillars have been placed in this bay making it an interesting dive.

Cyclops Cave
Very popular and beautiful site around the Cape Greco area. A combination of wall and reef dives, 5 to 30 metre

The Canyon
A giant stride entry begins this dive then you turn right and you may follow the reef. You will see some beautiful scenery along the way. You will then go through the canyons. The water is crystal clear with bright and vivid colours. This is a good spot for Underwater photography

Caves
Situated by Cape Greco and five minutes from our dive centre. This is truly a fantastic dive passing through caverns and caves. All caves have entry and exit points along with plenty of light. There is no need for torches on this dive. Pass back over a cave diving through the bubbles escaping from the cave below. Just follow the instructions of our Divemaster and you will go through small caverns and caves. Small corals and unusual underwater life may be seen in the area. The maximum depth is 11 meters and the dive is 45 minutes or more. The exit may be done through an under water cave which cannot be seen unless your diving guide takes you through!

The Chapel
This site is called the Chapel because a small chapel is built on top of a cave. Divers don their equipment outside the chapel and following the pathway and enter with a giant stride. You can dive to either the left or right. The depth can be between 15 and 30 meters, depending on the objective of the dive. Here you may see sponges, underwater vegetation, different kings of scorpion fish and other local fish. Ideal place for night diving to see octopus and other nocturnal species.

Zenobia Wreck

This is amongst the top ten wreck dives in the world. Roll on roll off Swedish flag vessel M/V Zenobia is 175m long and is lying at a depth of 43m. Zenobia sunk in 1980 during her maiden trip to East Mediterranean ports. She is fully loaded with Volvo trucks and trailers, and other general cargo items. The lifeboats are still in position. During one dive you cannot see all the parts of this wreck. It is a very popular dive spot so you need to plan and book this dive in advance. We will leave in the morning, a two-dive trip you should estimate to be back at 15.00 hours. Please note the minimum qualification required is PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent.
